Finalize a Service

Once all validators have submitted their votes, the service becomes ready for finalization.
This marks the end of the task lifecycle, during which rewards are distributed and validator performance metrics are updated.

Finalization Process​

Follow these steps to finalize a task:

  1. Visit the Info Page – Go to overlap.fi/info.
  2. Identify Ready Tasks – Tasks eligible for finalization are labeled as being in the Finalization Phase.
  3. Open Task Details – Expand the module of the task ready to be finalized.
  4. Initiate Finalization – Click the Finalize button at the bottom of the modal.
  5. Submit Transaction – Confirm and submit the finalization on-chain.

Finalization is instant and processed on Arbitrum.

Reward Distribution​

When a task is finalized, rewards are released to validators who voted in alignment with the majority consensus.
Validators can claim these rewards at any time through the protocol’s reward claiming process.

Performance Update​

During finalization, validator performance metrics are automatically updated:

  • Consensus alignment increases a validator’s performance index.
  • Deviations from the majority result in proportional penalties.

Certificate Creation​

Each successfully finalized task results in the issuance of a soulbound NFT certificate, generated by the Overlap protocol.
The certificate implements the ERC-1155 standard and cannot be transferred to another account. Depending on the task’s parameters, the certificate is minted either to the creator’s address or to an address specified as Info for the task.

All issued certificates can be viewed in:

  • The task detail modal for finalized tasks, or
  • The holder’s wallet address on Arbitrum.
