Create a service
Services are the main portal to Overlap’s resolution mechanism.
Users can create services for validators to deliberate over, covering a wide range of applications, extending from on-chain analysis and RWA verification to AI integrations.
Service Creation Process
Follow these steps to create a service:
- Visit the Services Page – Go to overlap.fi/services.
- Select a Module – Opt for one of the available service modules.
- Fill the Details – Expand the module and provide all required information for validators to complete the task.
- Select Validators – Select the number of validators to be assigned to your task.
- Set Timeframe – Specify the time within which a verdict should be reached.
- Submit Transaction – Finalize the creation of your task on-chain.
When creating a task, you are asked to pay for network fees and rewards for each validator.
The price of a task is proportional to the number of validators requested and inversely proportional to the time allocated.
The price is calculated using the formula:
where:
- are scale factors
- and are inputs specific for the task
Any excess fees are refunded in Ethereum and Arbitrum.
Service creation is a cross-chain process.
Tasks are initiated on Arbitrum to allow validators to vote at minimal cost, while validator eligibility is validated on Ethereum.
Creation fees, validator voting, and certificate publishing all occur on Arbitrum.
Follow Your Task
Created tasks can be tracked on the Overlap Info page.
Each task may have one of the following statuses:
| Status | Description |
|---|---|
| Pending | Task creation is awaiting finalization. |
| Commit Phase | Assigned validators are committing their votes. |
| Reveal Phase | Validators reveal their votes within the allowed timeframe (up to 1 day). |
| Finalization | A verdict has been reached and the task can be finalized. |
Successful tasks receive a soulbound NFT as proof of validity from Overlap’s resolution mechanism.
For more information, see the Finalization guide and the Certificate documentation.
