What is a validator

A validator is responsible for resolving tasks within Overlap’s resolution machine. Validators are elected by users and compete for voting power to become eligible for task assignments. Based on performance metrics, eligible validators are selected to evaluate data, resolve disputes, and cast votes. Successful validators earn rewards, which are shared with their voters.

Core responsibilities

Validators have four fundamental duties within the protocol:

  • Deposit Maintenance
Validators bond an initial deposit that serves as collateral during the voting process.

  • Vote Competition
Validators build trust and attract user votes through consistent performance and competitive rewards.

  • Task Resolution
Validators resolve assigned tasks and submit accurate and timely data.

  • Performance Retention
Validators must maintain high performance in their resolutions to earn rewards and remain favored by voters.
