How to Create a Service

Creating a service allows you to submit tasks for evaluation by qualified validators, enabling decentralized consensus on data validation, disputes, or oracle queries. This guide walks you through the submission process and key considerations for service creation.

Service Creation Process

Follow these steps to create your service:

  1. Visit the Services Page – Go to overlap.fi/services.
  2. Select a Category – Choose one of the available service categories.
  3. Open the Module – Access the respective module for your task.
  4. Define Task Inputs – Specify task requirements and evaluation criteria.
  5. Select Validator Count – Choose the number of validators for your task.
  6. Set Delegation Period – Determine the duration for task completion and discussion.
  7. Review and Submit – Finalize your configuration and submit it to the protocol.

Service Guidelines
  • Task Description – Provide clear, detailed requirements that validators can understand and evaluate.
  • Input Validation – Ensure all data sources and inputs are complete and verifiable.
  • Validator Count – Choose the optimal number of validators based on task complexity and desired consensus strength.
  • Time Allocation – Provide adequate time for thorough evaluation and delegate discussion.
Cross-Chain Processing

Upon service submission, the protocol automatically initiates a cross-chain call that synchronizes your service across Ethereum and Arbitrum networks. This process typically lasts ~30 minutes and triggers automatically once submission is confirmed. Once finalized, the service becomes active and available for validator assignment.
